Penn at 2 months

7 weeks old

Cheering on the dawgs at 7 weeks

Penn started daycare Thursday (I can't even talk about it), so he had his first round of shots recently. At 7 weeks, he weighed 12 lbs 2 oz and measured 24 inches long - 95th percentile for both!

2-month facts:
-Eats 4-5 ounces every 3-4 hours (5 times a day at about 7:30, 11:30, 2:30, 6 and 9)
-He no longer takes a bottle in the middle of the night, but I do have to put his paci in several times throughout the night
-Size 1 diapers
-0-3 month clothing but looks like he'll move up to 3-6 month soon because he's so long!
-LOVES the stroller and car and to be outside and in public
-Prefers to sleep on his tummy

He has a very sweet demeanor and is content most of the time. He has a little freckle on his left thigh that is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. He enjoys laying on the floor in the bathroom and "exercising" (kicking his legs) just before bath time. He likes to be upright over my shoulder most of the time, and he puts his hand under his chin while opening and closing it (Little Rascals style) while he eats. He has also discovered his hands and puts them in his mouth a lot.

Trying out the bumbo seat at 7 weeks. Yeah, it's pink. Get over it.

7 week checkup

I am enjoying my time much more with him than I did with MaryCollis. Maybe it's because I got to stay home with her for two years, so everything seemed so ordinary - boring even - or maybe it's because I know this is my last baby. But now I don't mind the rocking or having to hold him a certain way.

I'm sure a lot will change over the coming weeks as we make the transition to daycare. Luckily, Chad is taking vacation this week so he can help me get the kids ready in the mornings. We have 7 weeks of work/daycare until I take the kiddos out for the summer, which I'm sure will be the longest 7 weeks of my life but hey... it's all in the name of a paycheck.

Last day at home - 8 weeks

After his first day of daycare - 8 weeks

Penn's Sip and See & Easter

Me & Ash

Saturday morning Ashley hosted a Sip & See for Penn. There were vegetable shooters with ranch dressing, ham biscuits, quiche, poppyseed bread and the best dang chicken salad I've ever had served in phyllo cups. Ashley and her mom served a gorgeous table of food. I must've gone back five times... seriously. Of course Jane was quite the honorary hostess, refilling dishes and glasses, and Ashley's sister Hannah was the ultimate baby whisperer.

Me with Khaki, Penn, and Bonnie and Daniel Tanious

We got to visit with lots of old, dear friends and some new ones too (talkin' to you, Liam Trest). Speaking of Trests, Anne was a huge help with MaryCollis. At one point she asked if MC could go outside to play, and I think she sensed the hesitation in my voice because she immediately cut me off and said, "DON'T worry. I'm going to close the gate so she can't get out." How can I say no to that? So they had a great time, and I'm pretty sure Miss Trest will become the neighborhood babysitter at some point.

Our beloved Khaki and P

It was a fantastic way to spend a Saturday. Sunday I cooked lunch for the family at my house. We always do the standard "Sunday meal" (meat, dressing, vegetables) when we get together so I wanted to do something different. I made BBQ sliders, macaroni and cheese and baked beans. Can't get much different from Sunday cookin' than that.

The best shot I could get of MC in her custom Beaux et Belles Easter dress

Of course the bunny came to see us. MaryCollis dug through her Easter basket and was most interested in the pack of bubbles and a pair of sunglasses that look like a rabbit that was also in her Easter basket last year and somehow remained in her basket until Easter came around again (a regift to the same person!). Penn's basket didn't have much of anything in it, so I put some of MC's in his so it didn't look silly.

It was a great weekend spent with lots of friends and family for whom I am always thankful. Thank you, God, for your many blessings and for giving us your son.
