MaryCollis at 3.5

MaryCollis is 3 and a half. She is doing all sorts of things that I can't imagine I was doing at such a young age. She can count to 20 in English; count to 5 in Spanish (working on 6-10); say the pledge of allegiance; and she knows the days of the week, months of the year, and the seasons. I'm sure there are other awesome things she does that I can't recall at the moment.

She is becoming more and more prissy but still loves to be outside. At a princess party on Saturday she got mud all over her hot pink pants and said "It's ok, Mom. You can wash them." Six months ago she would have flipped out.

Superheroes gotta hydrate too.

Pizza night!

She still loves books and coloring, she corrects me if we don't say our prayers at night, she is a helpful big sister, she could eat pizza five days a week, and she is the ultimate convincer of "just one more episode!" I love that kid.

Hole in One

We celebrated Penn's birthday this weekend with a "Hole in ONE" birthday par-tee. My friend Paige used the theme for her son Steven's first birthday, and I immediately decided that would be Penn's theme (she lives in Vicksburg, so it doesn't matter).

Erin at Lucky Luxe designed the invitations, and Julie at The Bake Shop made all of the sweets. I used argyle print fabrics, vintage golf clubs, and banners for decorations. The favors were tiny trophies and muslin bags stamped with a golf image and filled with green mints and silly putty.

We feasted on "birdie" nuggets, "bunker" balls, peanut "putter" sandwiches, holes in one, "chip" shots, pizza by the "slice," grapes skewered on golf tees, sweet "tee," and arnold palmers. I had so many good ideas for food: "mulligan" meatballs, par-faits, cheese "wedges," "club" sandwiches, mac and "tees," "putt putt" pasta salad, sand traps... I could go on for hours. I just loved this theme!

There was a putting green in the sunroom, which I did not get a picture of, unfortunately.

Birthday Boy!

MaryCollis did not want to tear up her smash cake at her first birthday, but Penn couldn't wait to get his hands on that golf ball! As soon as Tyler put him in the chair, he grabbed it and shoved it into his mouth.

As soon as we posed for a family photo, Penn threw up his pointer finger like a "1." We didn't even plan it! Smart boy.

I had to show y'all this one. I'm giving Chad the GTH look about something, and Penn is like "oh no!"

MC and Peyton had the BEST time on the 3rd floor after the party. Sure do wish the Howells would move here!

We had so much fun at the party. I loved visiting with friends and watching Penn tear into that cake. I think he might have eaten TOO many sweets because he threw up that night. Whoops!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, BABY BOY!

Penn is 1!

Penn is one year old! This month, he...
- Weighs 21 pounds 15 ounces, is 30.5 inches tall, and has a head circumference of 18.75.

- Feeding schedule:
     7am breakfast (oatmeal/pancakes/fruit/toast/whatever) + milk
**Might have a snack in between breakfast and lunch
11am lunch (whatever we have) + milk
3pm snacks (crackers, fruit, yogurt, etc) + juice
6pm dinner (whatever we have) + milk

- He enjoys all fruit like grapes, blueberries, oranges, strawberries, etc. Bananas are his FAV. He loves any type of bread (pancakes, waffles, biscuits, rolls) and enjoys pizza, chicken and dumplings, SPAGHETTI, ham, french fries, Cheetos, yogurt, peanut butter sandwich, fig newtons, chicken, rice, broccoli, NutriGrain bars... pretty much anything.

- Sleeps 11-12 hours at night and takes 2 naps per day
- Size 4 diapers - have to use slip ons and pull-ups because he won't stay still
- Wears 9-12 and 12-18 clothes
- Size 4 shoe
- Loves to be outside, loves any type of ball, loves throwing things and wreaking havoc in general
- 4 teeth: 2 on bottom, 2 on top (still no sign of the others)
- LOVES to dance. He hears music and can't control himself.

Celebratory banana pancakes after going to bed with no bedtime bottle!

Both Penn and MaryCollis got to experience their first snow this month. MC loved it; Penn did not. It was all fun and games until he bent down and touched it, then he had a little meltdown. He spent the rest of the day admiring the pretty stuff from afar.

Chad put all the couch pillows on the floor one day, and Penn just rolled around and rooted in them. He LOVED it. So now it's kind of a thing. Chad also got him to take a 2+ hour nap one day on the couch, so there's a new rule: When Daddy is home, he's in charge of naps.

We almost made it out of January without an antibiotic (would have been the first month ever), but January 30 brought a doctor's visit and another bout of medicines. But didn't he look cute at Dr. Pujari's office?

Seriously. This kid.

Mom and I took the kids to Jackson to watch the Lady Tigers win the state championship in soccer last weekend, and they had a blast. MC got into a little bit of trouble after walking down the bleachers by herself. I asked what she thought she was doing and she said, "I need to go potty." You can't exactly fault a girl for being responsible enough to take herself to the bathroom, but you CAN fault a girl for running off without telling anybody. I tore into that child right there in public.

Cheered out.

I took Penn for his one year checkup today, and it went well. His ears still look clear, he was normal for all measurements, and he took the shots like a man. Dr. Pujari wants to try a new antihistamine in place of Zyrtec to see if it will clear his nose up better. She was very proud that he is completely off the bottle and wanted to take him home with her. Not a chance, Doc.

Stay tuned to see photos from his Hole in ONE Birthday Par-Tee! :)
