Penn at 15 months

Master P is 15 months old. He's such a little dude... with emphasis on little. Poor fella is a little string bean.

- Weighs 22 pounds (45th percentile) and is 34 inches long (95th percentile)
- Size 12-18 clothing mostly (although he can wear 6 month shorts/swim trunks)
- Size 4 shoe
- Size 3-4 diaper
- Loves food and will eat nearly anything
- Only says DaDa and ball but understands several things like milk and lovey
- 6 teeth (two on bottom, four on top)
- Can drink from a straw
- Touches his nose when we say "nose"

Passport photos that look like mug shots.

His hair continues to grow like a weed; he has now had four hair cuts. His second tubes/adenoid surgery went well, and we haven't had any problems yet. Yay! He loves being outside, climbing, jumping, throwing, doing all things boy.

Day in the Park

We are going through a real phase of hitting with the tiny man. Any time we tell him "no" or everything isn't happening just exactly like he wants.... he hits. I remember MC having fits, but I don't remember her hitting. It must be a boy thing.

Same swimsuit at 3 months and 15 months - skinny boy!

And it wouldn't be a blog post if I didn't tell you about Penn's latest sickness. Two weeks ago he had the strand of adenovirus that causes extreme diarrhea, and this week he has the other strand that causes red, watery eyes with occasional discharge, sinus drainage, ear infection, and sore throat. Yay rah!

Sick boy

After his 15-month checkup

This kid is already such a boy and is getting closer and closer to being the best buddy Chad has always wanted! Those two are going to have so many adventures while MC and I stay behind and spend all the money. :)

Mother's Day 2014

My mama and the one who first made me a mama :)

The past two weeks have been just plain awful. In fact, this school year has been just plain awful. With the end of the year so obviously close, it is so incredibly far away. Between both kids being sick, bad weather causing school closings and ruined interwebs, personal matters, my last living grandparent's passing, crazy happenings at school, and end-of-year testing.... I'm just happy to be here.

Even though we knew it would be a quick trip, Chad and I decided it was worth it to make the drive to New Orleans for a MUCH-needed getaway. As soon as MC's fever broke, Comcast fixed our internet, and my Mother's Day gift came via FedEx, we were ready to scoot. We left the kids with Gamma, Doc, and Bubba Friday evening and headed for NOLA in the rain.

On the way down, we changed our dinner reservation at least four times. We finally decided on K-Paul's at 9pm. When we arrived, we were starving and still had four hours until dinner, so we picked up some snacks and snuggled into those warm, inviting covers in our room. I also opened my Mother's Day gift, which was extravagant and totally deserved. ;)

Mother's Day gift

Around 7:30 I told Chad that if we didn't get up and do something I was going to fall asleep. So we walked around the Roosevelt gift shop, then had a drink at the Sazerac Bar. When we walked toward the door, we saw what we were about to walk into: a monsoon. We watched person after person walk into the lobby sopping wet, so we decided to just eat at the hotel restaurant Domenica.

Last time we ate at Domenica, we were not pleased. I had shrimp pasta in brodo (which I did not know at the time meant "in broth") and Chad had some kind of pasta with rabbit. We were reluctant to try it again, but we didn't have a choice. We had to wait for about 45 minutes for a table (I guess everyone had the same idea we did!), but I'm glad we did. We saw so many yummy things go by as we waited.

We knew what we wanted before we even sat down: affettati misti (chef's selection of imported cheeses and house-cured meats) and the wild mushroom pizza topped with a fried egg. Y'all..... why don't people put like six eggs on top of pizzas? Amazing! And you know how I feel about cheese, so there's no need to go on and on about that.

Thanksgiving Day Croissant

I slept so well and did not want to wake up the next morning, but the thought of dining at Stanley was motivation enough. We walked through the quarter and into the square to find a 30 minute wait, so we stepped inside next door and sipped on morning cocktails. Once seated, the service was super fast. We had gumbo for an appetizer, Chad had a shrimp po-boy, and I had the Thanksgiving Day Croissant (turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing). Amazing. Chad realized while we were out that he lost his wedding ring, so when we got back to the hotel we were on a mission to find it. Luckily, a maid found it, so we hopped in the car and headed home happy.

We listened to Ray Lamontagne the entire way, and I shopped at jcrew.com for new clothes (another Mother's Day treat!). Even though it was a quick trip, it was the quality time we've been needing. We had the best conversations and laughed about everything.

Patrick Fam after lunch at Estelle's

Pennster asleep at church. God love it.

Sunday morning we went to church, then ate with my family at Estelle's for lunch. We each got my mom a gift certificate to Penland's Nursery. Now she'll have a fabulous garden! After loving on my mama, the Patrick four went home and took the most wonderful afternoon naps. Between the fabulous getaway/date night, the over-the-top gift, the health and love of the woman who means most to me, and the restful afternoon, it was the best Mother's Day I've ever had.

Easter 2014

I didn't post about Easter right away, so I'm going to let the pictures do the talking since I can't remember much about it. :/
